Our dog grooming services.

From puppies visiting for their first tidy to seasoned show dogs, each appointment is handled with patience, care and professional attention to detail.

Full Groom

Our most popular dog grooming service in Maldon. Includes a shampoo and deep conditioning bath, thorough blow-dry, breed-specific cut and style and finishing spritz. Your dog leaves looking and smelling their absolute best. We'll always discuss exactly what you'd like before we start, and we welcome photos if you have a style in mind.

De-shedding Treatment

Dramatically reduces seasonal shedding in double-coated breeds such as Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Huskies and German Shepherds. Our specialist de-shedding treatment removes the dense undercoat that causes most of the fur you find around the home.

Dog Teeth Cleaning

We use the emmi-pet ultrasonic toothbrush - the gold standard in non-invasive dog dental care. Unlike conventional brushing, the emmi-pet works using ultrasonic waves rather than physical scrubbing, meaning no discomfort, no stress, and no anaesthetic required. Available as a standalone appointment or added to any full groom.

Puppy's First Groom

The most important groom your dog will ever have. Our puppy introductory sessions in Maldon are calm, unhurried and positive - building the confidence and trust that makes every future visit easy. Ideal from 12 weeks, once vaccinations are complete.

Hand Stripping

A specialist technique for wire-haired and terrier breeds including Border Terriers, Fox Terriers, Schnauzers and Spaniels. Hand stripping maintains the correct coat texture, natural colouring and breed-standard appearance - something clipping alone cannot achieve.

Nail Clipping

Overgrown nails cause discomfort and long-term joint damage. Our quick, stress-free nail trimming service in Maldon keeps your dog comfortable and moving correctly. Available as a standalone appointment - no full groom required.

FAQs: Muddy Mutts Maldon

Q: Can you groom all dog breeds?

Yes, we can groom all dog breeds from small to large. Our experienced groomers are also trained to work with dogs of all temperaments and personalities.

Q: I have a new puppy, when should I start grooming?

We recommend starting a puppy’s grooming at around  3 or 4 months – ultimately, the earlier the better. We would recommend bringing your pup in every 3-4 weeks for a bath and tidy for the first 6 months, so we are able to desensitise them to the surroundings and get them familiar with the grooming process.

Q: Do you have free parking?

Yes, we have lots of free parking directly outside our salon.

Q: How long does a grooming session take?

The length of a grooming session depends on the services requested and the size of the dog. On average, a grooming session takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Working with dogs can be unpredictable and thus it is not possible to give exact timings in advance. However, as soon as your dog is ready we will call or text you for collection.

Q: Can I stay with my dog during the grooming session?

No. Unfortunately, this is not possible for health and safety reasons and also to avoid distractions for your dog. Only grooming staff are allowed in the grooming area, but we will provide updates on your dog’s progress and call you when the session is complete.

Q: Do I need to bring anything with me when I drop off my dog for grooming?

No. Unless your dog needs a medicated shampoo, you just need your dog’s lead and collar.

Q: How do I make an appointment?

You can make an appointment by calling us directly on 07446 411625.

Q: How often should I have my dog groomed?

The frequency of dog grooming depends on your dog’s breed, coat type, and lifestyle. Dogs with long hair or thick coats may require more frequent grooming, while dogs with short hair may only need occasional grooming. It is best to consult with one of our professional groomers to determine the appropriate grooming schedule for your dog.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

We accept debit/credit cards and also cash. We do not accept bank transfers.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

Missed appointments cost our business a considerable amount of money because we have fixed overheads. We reserve the right to charge up to the full cost of the booked service if we do not receive a minimum of 48 hours notice.

Q: What is the de-matting policy?

We can only de-matt for 15 minutes for the sake of a dog’s welfare. If your dog requires longer, we will discuss this with you and may recommend clipping.

Q: What are your opening times?

8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. Saturdays by appointment.
